What does "toe to heel" mean and what is the biomechanical effect?

  • Toes to Heel

When you walk, you are already on the ball of one foot and the heel of the other. The golf swing uses the same idea: you push from the trail heel toward the ball of the lead foot (for a right-handed player, that is right heel to left ball of the foot). That path helps the club drop under and slot, then shifts your pressure onto the ball of the lead foot so you can load the upward force. After that you can use the verticals and the torque. If you hang on the heel and hope the club drops by itself, none of that happens.
